It comprises the Town Panchayat of Irugur, Kannampalayam, Mopperipalayam, Pallapalayam, Samalapuram, and Sulur, as well as the Karumathapatti municipality and Village Panchayat of Sulur Block and Sultanpet Block surrounding areas. With a total of 334,311 registered voters, the constituency has a slight female majority, with 172,126 female voters and 162,086 male voters. There are 333 polling booths in the constituency, which is classified as a General constituency.

The Sulur constituency has a fascinating political history, with the AIADMK party dominating recent elections. In the 2021 assembly elections, V. P.
